Tote Road Tango

10314526_10101634095855659_984937679207477336_nWith both boys, the dog, and the cat packed in the blazer we started out to brave the Realty Road in the height of spring thaw. Sections of the road were beautiful and we were able to cruise along, and then all of a sudden a crater would appear. Crater might sound like I’m exaggerating a little….you can take a look for yourself!

This was taken a couple of weeks ago when things really started getting messy.

The last time we were driving into the woods, I jinxed myself by asking my husband what would happen if we were traveling to Ashland and one of the single lane bridges were closed because of repairs.

Friday we drove up to a bridge with no planks across it and a pile of construction vehicles and workers busy at work. I let out a nervous giggle, because I knew that we would be waiting a little while with the dog, the cat, and two little guys in the back seat. I was pleasantly surprised as it only took about 15-20 minutes to finish adding the new planks to the bridge. Thumbs up, guys!!! :)

The view from the Umsaskis thoroughfare is one of my favorites on the Realty Road. A familiar knot in my stomach usually forms on this stretch, a subtle reminder that our time here is limited. Never knew I would fall so in love with Northern Maine!

About Rianne Ackley

I grew up in Downeast Maine but have recently relocated to the North Woods. I live in Clayton Lake where I am a stay at home Mom to two beautifully wild little boys and wife to a Maine State Game Warden. I am a lover of the simple things in life...a good book, a song, a rainy day, a bowl of white popcorn, etc. I have a slight obsession with all things food. Love cooking it, eating it, looking at it, smelling it, reading about it, etc. I am a firm believer that life is what you make it.
