Our first visit to St. Pamphile, Quebec

It’s stupidly pathetic that it took us almost a year of living here to visit St. Pamphile, but yesterday we finally made the trip across the border. We’ve had intentions of visiting before now, but weather, border hours, and our adapted hermit attitudes were a few things that prevented us from going.

We drove through the main part of town and then down a couple of side roads. Beautiful country with lots of hills and open fields. For a minute I enabled data roaming on my phone so I could ask Siri how far it was to Quebec City. When she answered with 2 hours I was giddy, and had an awful urge to drive straight through. But with the border closing at 9 o’clock and it already being late afternoon, we didn’t want to chance it. That will be our next trip. 🙂

We enjoyed an awesome lunch of pizza and poutine at Chez Rejean. It was my first time having traditional poutine with cheese curds or as some of my friends have called it, “squeaky cheese”. So delicious. Our French is quite lacking, but our waitress was sweet and patient.

Awesome pizza. The husband breathed a sigh of relief when I said so. I love to love my food and I'm sad when I don't love it. :)

I felt like a kid in a candy store when I walked into the grocery store. The produce was beautiful and options were plentiful. We were excited to get home and try out a few of our purchases.

The best kind of taste testing is butter taste testing. I love me some good buttah!

Find this. Buy it. Drink it. It's like fall and Christmas in a cup. So delicious.

Oh, hello. Who doesn't need some DARK chocolate milk in their life? Yum.

The most terrifying part of the trip? The bridge over the St. John River. One lane, wooden, maybe a foot of “guard rail”, and sooooo high up. It gave me the heebie-jeebies. But we will be back. Especially once the leaves start to change….I will just take a deep breath when we go to cross over that beautiful waterway.

I am a lover of the simple things in life...a good book, a song, a rainy day, a bowl of white popcorn, etc. I have a slight obsession with all things food. Love cooking it, eating it, looking at it, smelling it, reading about it, etc. I am a firm believer that life is what you make it.
